Mayor Brian Smith

The Mayor of Wasaga Beach has encouraged residents of the town and visitors to “come and experience the tastes, sights and sounds of Palaver and the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay.”

Responding to plans for the inaugural international literary event to celebrate Caribbean culture, the recently elected mayor, Brian Smith, said Palaver offers a unique cultural experience that is the first of its kind in the Wasaga Beach community.

“2015 marks the first year for Palaver in Wasaga Beach, offering a unique cultural experience that is the first of its kind in our community. I personally encourage residents and visitors to come and experience the tastes, sights and sounds of Palaver and the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay that will play host to the event.

“For visitors planning a weekend to Wasaga Beach to enjoy Palaver, please keep in mind that there are a variety of accommodation, dining and shopping opportunities available to you,” Mayor Smith stated.

In February the General Government Committee of the Wasaga Beach municipality adopted a resolution to recommend (to the town’s governing Council) approval in principle for the hosting of the annual event. The Committee’s recommendation was accepted by Council at its February 17, 2015 meeting. The Council is expected to ratify its decision at its next meeting on March 24.
